Compared to its predecessor, the Fold 7 comes with a larger, higher-resolution display, more capable cameras, plus the latest version of Android (accompanied by the usual generous helping of Samsung bloatware), all powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite. It is also 3.2 mm thinner than the Fold 6 when folded, and 1.4 mm thinner unfolded.
Whereas the Flip 6 had the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as the Fold 6, the processor in the Flip 7 has not followed the same upgrade path to the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite. Instead, Samsung has equipped it with its in-house Exynos 2500 chip.
It has the same number of cores, and uses the same 3nm production process, but – according to tech comparison specialist NanoReview – it doesn’t perform at quite the same level as Qualcomm’s offering, particularly when it comes to battery life.

That will negate to an extent the benefit of the Flip 7’s larger battery, which weighs in at 4,300 mAh compared to the Flip 6’s 4,000 mAh power plant.
Other than that, the screen is larger, the chassis is slightly fatter, and all three cameras come with the same number of megapixels.
Prices start at £1,049, the same as last year’s model.
